Contemporary Sudan Center for Studies and Development Fourth Basic Meeting; Fourth Enlightenment Season Topic: Center’s Work Journal and Participants Date: February 2011 to February 2017 Country: Egypt. Location: Cairo; Ard Al-Liwaa District

Throughout the penultimate week of November, meetings of the members of the Contemporary Sudan Center continued at the specified time and place.

First: Agendas of the Meetings: A. Evaluating the performance and work of the Contemporary Sudan Center in the third enlightenment season, with several reports presented. B. Formulating general ideas and clarifying the role the center should play during the Sudanese change movement. C. Creating a new vision and a detailed plan for the fourth enlightenment season. D. Forming a team to lead the enlightenment season. E. Coordinating and working with Sudanese and African enlightenment groups. F. Facilitating interactions among members across borders and accepting new members.

Second: Executive and Administrative Body: The administrative and advisory councils of the center will remain unchanged until the first comprehensive conference of all center members.

Fieldwork Team for the Fourth Enlightenment Season: The meeting agreed to form a fieldwork team to manage the center’s activities during the fourth enlightenment season, with the following structure:

  • Mahdi Mohammed Othman – Organizational Officer

  • Adam Ibrahim Ahmed – Enlightenment Activity Coordinator
  • Abdullah Adam Suleiman – Studies and Research
  • Ibrahim Dini – South Sudan Communication Coordinator
  • Mohammed Matar – Human Rights Coordinator
  • Ali Shamtit – African Groups Communication Coordinator
  • Hadi Issa – North Africa Refugee Coordination Team
  • Mohammed Herry Kerl – Press Monitoring Coordinator

Enlightenment Teams in Sudan: All previous members continued in various fields within Sudan and abroad, participating in seasonal meetings via social media, providing written and verbal insights, and continuing their enlightenment work. Key fieldwork teams over the years included:

Third: Major Programs Implemented During the Fourth Enlightenment Season:

  1. Participation in the second Columbia University conference at the American University in Cairo.
  2. The first International Criminal Court (ICC) conference between Darfur victims and an ICC delegation.
  3. Monitoring human rights violations against refugees. The fieldwork team leader released 50 annual reports on refugee conditions in Egypt through the Press Monitoring Center.
  4. Continued coordination with African and global organizations, including:
    • General Union of Nuba Mountains
    • Global Tama Union
    • Sudanese Activists Group in Egypt
    • Kush Center for African Civilizations Studies
    • African Association in Egypt
    • African Students Union in Egypt
    • Amnesty International
    • Human Rights Defenders Protection Organization
  5. ICC conference with all coordinators in collaboration with the American University in Cairo.
  6. Permanent dialogue forum on Sudanese issues by the Enlightenment Coordination team.
  7. Distributing the center’s vision on democracy and human rights within Sudan.
