Contemporary Sudan Center for Studies and Development Fifth Enlightenment Season; Fifth Founding Meeting. Historical Transformation Project; 2017 to 2021

Date: February 2017 to February 2021 The fifth founding meeting was held in Oslo with participation via Skype, WhatsApp, Messenger, and email from the following countries: Sudan, South Sudan, Libya, Egypt, USA, Malaysia, Australia, UK, France, Israel, and Ghana.

Throughout the penultimate week of February 2017, the Contemporary Sudan Center members met at the specified time and place.

First: Meeting Agendas: A. Evaluating the performance and work of the Contemporary Sudan Center during the fourth enlightenment season, with a report by Monaem Suleiman Atroun. B. Formulating general ideas and clarifying the role the center should play in the current phase of change in Sudan. C. Creating a new vision for the fifth enlightenment season and detailing a plan for it. D. Forming a team to lead the fifth enlightenment season. E. Facilitating member interactions across borders and accepting new members. F. Registering the Sudan Center in Norway as a volunteer organization focused on intellectual and enlightenment activities.

Second: Agreed Actions:

  1. Continuing the mission of enlightenment and democratic cultural progress in Sudan.
  2. Establishing the African Central Office within Sudan.
  3. Founding the African Library in Nyala.
  4. Forming the Nationalist African Students Movement in Sudanese universities.
  5. Coordinating with African, Sudanese, and global democratic organizations.
  6. Collaborating with the International Criminal Court on the Darfur genocide case and monitoring human rights violations in Sudan.
  7. Continuing human development efforts, including the School of Cadres to build a democratic mindset for the contemporary Sudanese generation, with teams in Cairo and Sudan.
  8. Continuing the literacy campaign and issuing periodic reports on education in Sudan.
  9. Continuing human rights reports on those affected by the apartheid state, including Sudanese refugees abroad and internally displaced persons.
  10. Bringing Sudan’s case to the UN, African Union, Human Rights Council, European Union, ASEAN, Caribbean Community, Union of South American Nations, and democratic countries.
  11. Continuing civilized dialogue with Sudanese people inside and outside Sudan through the Enlightenment Center’s forums or other platforms.
  12. Building the internal structure of the center, which includes:

  • Securing funding sources
  • Developing a website
  • Finding a permanent headquarters
  • Training cadres
  • Accepting new members
  • Securing membership and defending the center’s ideas and programs
  • Registering the center in Norway as a volunteer organization

Third: Emergency Programs for 2019:

  1. Supporting the cities’ revolution movement in Sudan with a vision for historical transformation.
  2. Registering the Contemporary Sudan Center as a volunteer organization in Norway.
  3. Preparing for the first Sudan Center conference in 2021.

Fourth: Executive and Administrative Body: The administrative and advisory councils of the center will remain unchanged until the first comprehensive conference of all center members from previous seasons.

Fifth: Achievements of the Fifth Enlightenment Season: The center conducted a training course for its members on history and organizational work, including discipline and qualification. Four seminars on democratic development in Sudan were held in Fulda, Sormsun, Oslo, and The Hague. Three meetings were held between the Sudan Center representatives and the International Criminal Court. The Sudan Center formed a revolutionary coordination group in Cairo and presented a vision for historical transformation.

General Report of the Fifth Enlightenment Season

Seventh: Participants: The fifth founding meeting saw the participation of new, more active members, while the center lost its previous internal fieldwork coordinator in Darfur. The center participated in the International Criminal Court forum in The Hague. The focus this season was on deepening the spread of enlightenment with democracy as a goal in the change movement. The strategy for the season includes registering the center and planning for the sixth founding conference with participation from all members over the past seasons.

Eighth: Challenges: During this season, the center lost Ibrahim Ismail, the fieldwork team coordinator in Darfur, who passed away in February 2019 after suffering from an illness upon his return from Ghana.
